Just checking in here from Cabo. Jeep is driving great and with everything closing down in the US I decided to stay here for the summer. I'll do an oil change down here in a bit before I drive it back up here.

That's a pretty good plan!

Has anyone ever heard of using Marine Grease instead of synthetic grease inside ball joint boots and other Zerk fittings tie rod drag link ect....

I always used Mobile 1 red synthetic but down here in Baja the tire shop tried to use marine grease during a rotation. I politely declined and said I would come back for a greasing.

My feeling is dont mix the 2 but I doubt it does anything bad.

I'm curious as well. I've read about folks mixing greases, I believe Mark Dorion told the story, but I shoot for a standard grease per application. I have heavy duty and then tractor grease.....while I don't doubt they'd mix ok, I'm not sure I want to find out. Kind of to that point though- I used heavy duty grease in my Teraflex bj's because they wouldn't give me a straight answer on what they use or recommend outside of "high quality" grease.

The old school rule is avoid mixing greases with a different base, the overwhelming majority being lithium. But that means one has to actually read labels and know what's previously installed. I have some marine grease that is lithium base, but all aren't. Obviously, the more critical the application, the more careful one needs to be about lube selection.

Just looked up this NAPA article, and it basically says similar -- just a lot wordier.

Well after 6 weeks on the road in Baja it's time to come home. Jeep ran great once again. Almost at 190k and 200k is closing in quick now for sure. A couple of issues that did pop up. Twice I did get the Bank 2 Cat Converter code. I just simply reset it. One time after a high pressure car was I got a check engine of low voltage to an o2 sensor but I didn't take a picture of it. So even though I did replace the o2 sensors and it is much better, it seems as if the CAT will need to be replaced at some point. I've got plenty of time to deal with that.

I did recently get C1405 Transfer Case Range Position Sensor Circuit High and I have noticed that once I am switched into 4x4 it takes a few seconds for the 4x4 light to appear on the instrument cluster. This used to be something that is instant but now it is definitely lagging. Is something starting to possibly go on the Transfer Case? Fluid is fresh and full.

What is the process for re-torquing the front end components? Loosen all control arms and jump on front bumper a few times and then back to 125ft-lbs? I want to make sure this front end is solid again since it's hurricane season and I'm headed back to baja in a week or two lol!
