Short story.....when my JK was 2 months old I down loaded 10 CDs to the hard drive which (If I remember right) took about 10-15 minutes each, at the end, 1.5 hours later, not enough juice to start.

The stock battery is great at starting but it did not like being pulled for any length of time.

A new battery doesn't mean it's a good battery. Specially if its acid filled.
If it is liquid filled, ditch it and go either a Sears Platinum or a Optima. You won't regret it.

Those are Absorbed Glass Matt (AGM) batteries. There are excellent batteries available in both types and each has some advantages and disadvantages. Most AGMs are sold as "premium" batteries. Flooded cells are available in both bargain basement and premium versions. There is not that much difference between a premium flooded cell and an AGM, but bargain flooded cell batteries are crap.

Deep cycle AGM batteries offer more charge/discharge cycles before failure than flooded cell batteries. This is important in an RV but not so much for an automotive battery. Biggest advantage of an AGM in a Jeep is that they can't spill.

Flooded cell batteries require more maintenance than AGM. Apart from cheapo batteries that were crap to start with, the biggest reason flooded cell batteries get a bad rap is the so-called "sealed" battery. A flooded cell battery without caps can't be maintained, but with caps and regular maintenance they perform as well as an AGM for less money.

For the purposes of this thread, having a fresh healthy charged battery of either type is what matters.

My 2011 has never had a problem playing 4+ hours off my iphone, with the CB active in the background.

A Jeep that has been sitting on the lot probably has a batt that is just barely strong enough to start it up. More times than not I have seen the wash guy bring something into the wash bay and thrity minutes later he is hooking it up to the charger to get it started and back out on the lot. I don't ever see them leave one attached long enough to get it back up to the level that it should be at. There are so many computers on todays vehicles that after two weeks of not being run the batt is nearly discharged. And then on a car lot with the doors being opened and closed the dome lights are taking more and more juice out of that poor batt. And if you get one off the showroom floor you can bet that batt is in even worse shape.

You might just need a better battery. Optimas are good, so are Die Hards.
Ok. So after another dead start from 30 minutes of stereo playing, i replaced the stock battery with a die hard gold. So far so good.

Update: 3 hours playing stereo while washing the jeep. Started right up. No problems!
