Default Jk Hard Top Upgrade

I upgraded my soft top to a Mopar hard top last week. When connecting the wires for the defrost and wiper to the wiring harness under the hood my diagram doesnt match. Has anyone come across this problem?

I purchased the mopar wiring harness M82210215 for cars that originally came with soft tops. The kit included the wiring harness and switches to operate dome light, defroster, wiper and washer. Three wires run the the E connector by the battery. You have to plug the wires into the back. My problem is that the nubmers listed on the harness do not match the numbers on the diagram.

Are you running your own wiring harness? This post seems to be missing some information.

did you change out your entire wiring harness to one that included the hardtop plug in. i am pretty sure that not all jks are prewired for the hardtop...

the numbers listed on the plug of the harness usually do not match the pin-out numbers in service manuals.. I have no idea why but they dont..

In my Acura I had to start from the bottom left and work my way clockwise counting the wires and that worked for me.

the JK could definetly be different though

For what it is worth, when I had the dealer do this, the harness stumped them for several days. Appearantly there is either an error in the harness or an erroor in the wiring diagram. Several calls to DC (and days) later, they got it all worked out.
FYI - you will have to flash the ECU to accept the new controls (wiper, washer, defrost).

Question

Has anyone used the wiring harness, but aftermarket toggle switches for this? I have the MOPAR wiring kit (new stawck, hvac switch unit which adds the defroster switch. I don't have to have factory switched for this. I'm happy to use aftermarket switches.

Here's my question:
Any thoughts on running the factory wiring harness to the dash area, but then using aftermarket switches? I'd use one momentary switch that would turn on the wipe and washer at the same time, but would turn off as soon as the switch is released. Then, I'd run a separate on/off for the defroster. That one would be run off of the switched cigarette lighter outlet on the left so there's no way it would be left on without the vehicle running. I'd also add a switch for the light.

Three separate switches, no dealer involvement or cost.
Whadyathink??? Has anyone already gone this route?
Thanks.

This means nothing to me. I don't know anyhting about wiring. I do know this, though:

As jetsfan mentioned, the dealer will HAVE to flash for the controls once they are installed. Luckily, I was the second one at my dealership to have the hardtop installed after the purchase. It took them a while to get the other guy's defrost and wiper working but they knew what to do with mine.

Also, they screwed up my defroster installing the harness/top/controls. One call and a trip back fixed everything. Warranty covered it since it was a dealer install.

Bottom line: I'd have them do it. Hell, I would have made them agree to it when I bought the top.
