Default Windhshield Replacement

For any of you that have had your windsheild replaced... did you go with OEM Mopar glass or something else like PPG?

Default Oem

I went OEM, and the installer from Safelite Auto Glass said, "good move". He said the fit is better. Also, make sure the installer is careful in cutting out the old sealant, as he can easily nick the paint. If he does nick it, make sure you or he touches it up, or you'll have rust later on.
Good luck. In FL, insurance must pay for new glass... even OEM if requested. The price I heard (but did not pay) was $450 OEM. Aftermarked would have been $300 - $350.

Well, I just scheduled to have it done with PPG glass. The installation should happen Wednesday morning. I will report on how it comes out.

You should be fine. I went with OEM mainly because the dealer cracked mine and took care of the bill. I saw the aftermarket. Looks like a good quality replacement. Follow rlabott's advice on telling the installers to be extra carefull. There is no outside molding to cover scratches or nicks.

Had a rock take out the windshield. Just a nick at first but fully developed crack over night. AAA replaced it with an OEM.

I had a rock crack my windshield and I went with PPG with a Safelite install.

Safelite is a very good company. On my 1998 Dodge truck...I had the windshield replaced right after I got it and about 2 years later I needed them to come out and check the install because i thought the windshield had slid down. They took it out and re-installed it at no charge.

So whatever glass you get have them install it.

Had to have a new one put in mine already too... less than 2 mos. old!!!

I didn't catch the brand, but Speedy Auto Glass did it up here. They cut the old out from the inside because they feared scratching the paint on the outside. Took them longer due to trim R&R, but they didn't charge me any more for the extra care. Glass looks stock to me, no complaints.
