Default JK hardtop

Forgive me, but I need to ask a stupid question.

Will a factory hard top fit on a JK that came equipped from the factory with a soft top?

What kind of modications would you have to make, if any, to make a hard top fit on a soft top JK?

Thanks!

NO PROBLEM!

You just have to remove all the soft top harware (door frames, etc) and there you go!!! No mods

You will need the hard top, and the bolts and nuts (8) to attach it. You'll also need the wiring if you want the rear wiper to work.

Take off the plastic door surrounds before you install the hard top and you are good to go.

You're in San Diego - what the hell do you need a hard top or soft top for???????

I think it will also need to be flashed to get the wiper/defrost working in back (assuming you install the wiring kit, etc).

How would that work with half doors? Would I need to get full doors?

LOL, yea, I know, I live in San Diego, Why DO I need any top at all? Contrary to popular belief, ya know, we do actually get a little bit O rain here?

Maybe....a couple centimeters a year? Maybe?

I would imagine if you had the top half of the half doors as well, it would be enough to seal up the door area with the hard top. But yes, to reiterate what previous people have said, you'd need wiring for the rear window washer assembly, and the defroster...hmm...now that I think about it, if you have the rear window defroster...you will need the button in your dash to work as well.....I don't know if the other models come with the button or not. I have a dual top rubi so I have the rear defrost button on my console. Maybe it comes with the button and you'll have to flash your computer to make it operable. Your factory hard top should come with the 6 T40 torx bolts needed. If you get the freedom top, the two front panels also have two large handscrews that go into the soundbar area if you have those holes available.

The wiring kit includes a new dash panel (with the defrost button) and also a new windshield wiper stick (with a control for the back wiper).

ya'll r getting kinda personal about it ain't ya? If the brother wants a hard top whether he lives in san diego or bumfocked Egypt it's his Jeep. Maybe he wants to drive up into the mountains in the winter and not get cold.

good luck with that new Jeep buddy!!!!
