Default JK steering box hype!!!

Ok, so my steering box has started leaking down near the pitman arm. So I began reading through the forums to find out what my options were. I heard a lot of holy crap it's going to run $700.00 for the new Chinese inferior box not the old Delphi box in some '07 models which you can rebuild. Get ready to replace it again they say if you wheel it and have bigger tires (33's now w/35's coming someday). Well, I have an '07 and on the side of the rust colored box it says Delphi with a serial number not the painted black newer Chinese box. So I was told... do not get rid of that box it can be rebuilt and is rare from the forums. So I have been searching the forums to find a used one to save money and keep my Delphi as a spare to have rebuilt. The best I can do is $300 used and possible the Chinese version with no warranty.

To make a long story short, I went to my local auto parts store today and they had one. Guess what?????? It was a rebuilt Delphi now painted black and had a lifetime warranty for $200.00 with the return of my core.

So, my question is..... am I missing something with it being only $200 not $700 and it has a lifetime warranty and not used with only an hour or so down time?????

I can see $700 for a new one with no exchange.
Rebuilds are cheaper outright; cheaper still when they get your old one returned.

The lifetime warranty is a big plus, though.

The one I just picked up would be $450.00 without the exchange.

That's probably true, but no one has been able to tell me where to get a lower seal. No one can seem to find a part number for it.

Where did you get this? I was going to have mine rebuilt by West Texas Offroad for the very reasons you mentioned.

Also where is the Delphi markings?

If you look through your fender well you should be able to see delphi on the side facing the drivers tire. I got mine at Carquest.
