Default Leaking Freedom Top

Brought mine to a dealer in VA and they told me that they already had a couple of complaints of leaks. They had the part number for the replacement seal and ordered it. They said it would take about 1-2 weeks to get in due to backorder. I don't have the paperwork with the part number but I will post it later.

Just curious what dealer. I had a dealer in NOVA install had had zero issues. I took the front panels off this weekend when it was nice and I now have a slight whistle at highway speads, but still no leaking.

Default leak

I had a leak in the windshield brackets. My dealer told me that Jeep had a bulletin about the leak. I took it in and they put some type of silcone sealant under the brackets. The only problem is now that I took it through a car wash and it appears that the hot water melted the silicone and I have black silicone down the side of my Jeep. I'm going to call the dealership tomorrow and ask about it. I'm very curious to hear what "part" your dealer is going to replace. Any info would really be great.

Default Part Numbers For Leaking Freedom Top

Here are the parts they ordered for the leaking freedom top:

55397095-AD (SEAL, TARG)
55395240-AC (W/STRIP W)

The mechanic I talked to said it was the weatherstrip on the windshield and the strip on the actual front roof pieces. Won't know if it solves the problem until the parts get in within the next week or two. Until then, I still have my washcloth stuffed in the top.

Default Do a search ...

Do a search for that thread and you'll see we whipped that horse pretty good. Great to see the part numbers and hear of the silicone cure as we were flailing away in the dark for a while.

Just to throw out my experience, I had a leak one day when I reinstalled the front panels. nce the rain stopped I removed the panels and looked at how I had installed them. I had pinched the gasket in the rear, causing it to leak down my back. I then proceeded to reinstall the panels paying careful attention to how the panels sit in teh front channel 1st, then lay them down on the rear panel. Then install the passeneger side. Then I click the front levers, then the latches that hook teh panels together, and finally I screw in the rear circular rollbar pieces. Now no leaks, no whistling at any speed (might have had it well over 80mph at one time!). Note as well, I screw the rear parts only hand tight, not overly tight, because it can cause the rear gasket to get pinched as well. I had test driven a 4 door, that the dealer admitted they had played with and it leaked, I helpe dthem reinstall the panels under the cover of their front overhang, and NO leak when we were done. The Sales manager brought the service manager out to have me show him one time how I did it. LOL, expierence pays, Now if I could just get taking the doors off easier I'd be set!

Well, we had a nice rainstorm here and when I got into the Jeep afterwords, I noticed some water pooling on the center console next to the cupholders. I guess my hardtop is leaking where the two front panels meet. Do they have a fix for that one? Also found that when you open the front doors the rain just pours in as it travels down the "gutters" of the top. Very poorly designed!
