Default Locked out??

Why the hell do the doors lock when I close the gate???

This happened once when I had the soft top on, so no biggie.. but now that I've got the hard top on, how the hell do I open her up? Don't feel like calling the cops or a locksmith to come into our parking garage here at work.. anyone know how to easily get in?

Thankfully our security guys had a jimmy, and it (surprisingly) only took 10 seconds to unlock the door.

But to add to my initial query; Is there a way to modify the locking system to keep it from locking the doors when the gate gets shut?

go through your owners manual and see if maybe there is a setting for that.

need more info:

so is the Jeep running and you open the rear gate then shut it and it locks, or is the Jeep off?

Cause, i have a hardtop and i've never experienced what you are talking about.

How are you unlocking the gate in the 1st place? with a remote, or with the key in the gate?

Hmm, this is strange because I just went out to recreate the door lock and this time it didnt lock.

I dont have the factory, nor an aftermarket alarm.

I'll investigate again later after lunch.

Never happened to me either, it doesn't lock unless I tell it to or gets above 15mph or 20mph. I'm back there all the time, one of my kids rides back there in the little seats, and I put my computer bag back there when I go to work.

This happened to me as well, the Jeep was not running, it had been then I shut it off and got out, shut the drivers door, opened the gate, shut it and it locked; luckly the soft top was on and my 5 year old was close by. I opened the side window and put him through it.
now aI have a spare key sitting in the bottom of my air filter box. As said before , it will start it momentarily only, but it will get you in it every time.
