Default At a loss over my loss.............in MPG

I have a 2010 sport, teraflex leveling kit, superchips (87performance) and I removed the POS air dam thing. My problem is that I am losing MPG, when I first got the jeep I was getting something like 19-20mpg. I am now down to between 14-15 MPG. I don't get it. I don't have oversized tires and no major lift. Its an auto with 3.73. The only thing I can think of is when I changed my diff fluid for the first time I put 75w140 in the rear diff. Could this be why I am dropping mpg so bad? Additionally, on long trips I get back up to 17 or so mpg. HELP!! lol

The rake helped with your MPG, now you "fixed" the rake. The POS air dam helped with MPG, not you got rid of it. The rear diff is supposed to run 80W-90 and only run 75W-140 if you are towing, are you towing? I can’t comment on the Superchips.

With my mods I get around 15 MPG between the freeway and trails.

Just a guess but that POS air dam thing does look like it assists with front end aerodynamics just like the factory rake does as well. Not sure about the tune and how much that is costing you in MPG if any.

Basically what I'm saying is that you removed 2 features that were meant to increase MPG, so you ended up with lower MPG. Shouldn't really be a surprise.

The responses are appreciated. I will try the diff fluid change, I don't tow and it probably makes a difference. I know its a jeep but it still needs to be somewhat economical.

The diff fluid change won’t make up 5 MPG, but the heavy stuff isn’t needed if you aren’t towing. I use Mobile 1 LS 75W-90.

You may want to check on your superchips settings. I’ve seen many threads on it and you can get all kinds of results based on your settings.

I'm leveled in the front and also got rid of the air damn otherwise stock save for the weight of rockrails, bumper and Kilby exhaust skid and I'm in the same boat. I get about 15 on winter gas and 17 on summer, so I'd say it's normal.

The stock rake helps with the little aerodynamics.... The stock air dam too... Put the air dam back on... It should help a little. It makes the air flow smooth under the jeep, it acts like a Knife to cut the air as opposed to it getting hung up on the under side of the jeep.

Install a front skid plate instead if the plastic air dam.
