Default Lug Nuts

I want to remove (permanently) the locking lug nuts that came new with my Jeep. The dealership quoted me $11 apiece for standard lug nuts. He couldn't even keep a straight face when he quoted the price, and said "yeah, we're pretty proud of our lug nuts".

Has anyone found a good aftermarket set of lug nuts that match the factory pieces (or at least are close to matching)? I figured I'd spend $15 or so for a set of 5, but not $55. As an alternative, anyone interested in a set of locking lug nuts (5) in trade for some plain-old factory units?

Ron

on my TJ, they gave me the lug nuts they took off to put the locking lugs on. I still have those locking lugs by the way, after I broke the first stupid key, as soon as I mail ordered it's replacement from worthless McGard, I removed them and never looked back.

DOH!! i have all of my original non-locking lug nuts in my tool box. If i would have known you needed a few of them i would of gladly given them to you with all of the other free stuff you grabbed from me when you came over a few weeks ago. When i got my new wheels i got all new pro-comp black locking lug nuts so i have absolutely no need for my old ones. If you dont find any soon and happen to be up in my neck of the woods i'll give them to you. Likewise if im down there i'll shoot you a messege.

Thanks. Wish I would have known. They are apparently made of a precious metal based on the dealer price! In any case, it looks like I may have a trade worked out. If that falls through I'd be glad to take some off your hands..

Thanks again.

I just don't like the darn things... one more thing to keep track of, that's all. With my luck I will get a flat on the trail and not be able to find the special socket.

I'm already trading PM's with another member about a trade but will keep you in mind if that doesn't work.

Thanks
Ron

If you rock crawl Locking ones are a bad idea. If you damage the face where the key inserts you will have a very hard time getting it off out in the field to change a tire when you need to most.
