Default Major rear diff leak

My Jeep was at the dealer for the TO bearing TSB. On the way home I noticed a smell...

I get home and look, the rear (driveshaft side) pumpkin, axle housing, suspension, exhaust, tub, and side of gas tank have a nice coat of fluid that appears to have been spun all over by the driveshaft. It's a freakin' mess.

There was no leak on that diff (other than the standard cover leak) when I left it on Wednesday. I'm calling the dealer first thing in the morning.

I'm thinking this is a pinion seal? Any thoughts?

Sounds like a pinion seal however, the technicain would not have had to remove the rear pinion flange itself. He would have removed your rear driveshaft only unless there was some sort of updated pinion seal or flange to go along with this recall.

There wasn't and he shouldn't have removed it but that doesn't mean he didn't.

Did you check to make sure it was not pumping out the breather?

I see you have Riddler covers. Maybe they topped off your diff. If they did, they over filled it...

I did and it's not. It's definitely coming from the pinion area.

I do have Riddlers but they aren't on yet. I was waiting for this service to be done to install them, so still only the stock covers.

RubyDoos front pinion seal was bad before getting the 5.13's installed. No idea why but it was bad.

Forgot to update the thread.

My Jeep went back to the dealer the morning after opening this thread. The dealer replaced the rear drive-shaft, under warranty. That's where the leak was and that corrected the problem.

The only thing I can imagine is that they screwed it up somehow during the trans. removal. It was fine when I dropped it off.

my dealer did the torque converter TSB on my 07... i got home and my muffler was dangling b/c the failed to attached it back to ALL the rubber bushings.

That irritated me and I further looked over the rest of the vehicle and I found:

1 bolt missing from the bottom of my transmission/transfer case

my front drive shaft had only 1 of the 8 or 10 bolts that hold it into the diff screwed in... two had fallen out (i assume on the way home) and the rest were just hanging there, not even hand tightened.

good thing i checked before kicking into 4wd.
