Manual or automatic?
Anybody who drives a manual, I mean an automatic... no wait! A manual. Or was that an automatic? What was the question?
I had a YJ manual 5 speed. I now have a JK automatic. I liked the manual because it was more stuff to do on the trail. I like the automatic because it has a dead-stop crawl ratio. If someone gave away a new Jeep and asked if I wanted an Auto or Manual, I'd definitely say "YES!"

I couldnt agree more with the notchy part. Any vehicle i've ever owned is a manual, plus they are way more fun to drive. I test drove an auto JK, feels like it could use 5 gears as opposed to 4.
if your burning your clutch you should stick to the malls.
4WD low, let off the clutch till you feel the jeep pull and let off the brake slowly and vioula no rock back and no clutch burn. if you are hitting the gas while you are dropping the clutch you 1 need lower gearing and 2 you are doing it wrong.

I have an auto. Driving in the city just makes it easier, plus when I am on my phone, texting, eating, reading etc...just less distractions. lol...
I got an auto cause that's what was on the dealer lot. If it had been a 6spd I would have been fine with that too.

I own a manual. But I have driven both on the rocks and a auto is the way to go on rocks. You can be so much smoother when climbing. But if you get a manual geared low enough then you just slip it into first/low range and let the rig do all the work. I have 35" still being pushed along with 4:10's so once I re-gear I am sure I will love it again.
