In europe most of the cars are manual because they understand that driving is just that DRIVING. multi tasking while driving is not smart. I understand a cup of coffee is great, I too drink coffee on my commutes, trips etc. But then you have the people on their cell phone, drinking coffee, eating mcdonalds, and trying to tame the kiddos.

Driving should be a chore, you should be focused and a manual adds to that experience to be one with the vehicle. I know its a jeep but I like having full control of my drivetrain.
Amen.

Anyone with the manual count your blessings, guys with the auto count your money because you're going to need it to keep them working. I made the mistake of an auto in a 1997 F350 Ford. The truck will last me the rest of my life except for that lttle mistake, that stupid, STUPID automatic. After rant, I'll vote manual as the better way to go x1000.
I agree 1000%..a clutch is alot cheapier than a whole auto tranny when or if they tear up.

I have owned lots of manual cars/trucks and one auto..Only one out of the 15 or so vehicles I have owned gave me ANY tranny troubles..guess which it wasI have NEVER had any manual transmissions need work and I drove 80% of all the vehicles I owned till they were well over 120,000 miles .Proper maintainence and common scense on the owners part will keep a vehicle going along time.

I agree that some need/want an automatic which is fine..this is just my experiance with the vehicles I have owned.
