Manual shift point
Hmmm... I've been shifting around 2500, and "cruising" between 1500 and 2000. Getting around 16.5 with no (hard) top or doors, 13.3 with. Lot less weight topless and door-less. Running AC with top and doors didn't make a dent in economy.
18" wheels and 33ish tires.

I really have never watched a tach either, and probably wouldnt have in my JK either had I not driven the 11 model and noticed the Eco hash marks. It got me thinking that I could get the best fuel economy in that range and since Ive only had it for a month, Im still feeling it out. I like shifting by feel, and after glancing down it just so happens to be around the 3k range.....thanks for the input guys.
It all depends on where I am, or what I am driving. However, I have found, being on forums for the last four manual transmission cars I owned, and now the Jeep, people tend to shift lower than me (then some complain about the lack of power
) I don't routinely run it in the 5k + range, but I do let the revs build up a little and try to get into the guts of the power available in this engine.
Highway...depends, going across Kansas, 6th all the way,
i 70 through the CO mountains where I live, I'm almost never in 6th, unless heading down towards Denver.
Around town, 2nd/3rd/4th...
4th right up until about 60 ish
