There is no way to lock out the transmission. The only thing you can do is turn your steering wheel all the way right or left and lock it.

I look at it like this....if someone really wants to steal something chances are they will. All these locks and deterrents do is keep the honest people honest.

This is why I have insurance. Hopefully I don't have to use it but it is there if I need it.

I have a standard 07 and my steering wheel locks. If you think you are going to have a problem with someone messing with it get a big dog. Click image for larger version

Simple fix, if you are that concerned about someone steeling it, don't take the top/doors off! Doesn't matter what kind of vehicle it is, if someone wants it, they are gonna find a way to take it. Insurance and GAP protections is the way to go! Cast all other fears aside!

Turn the wheel so the Jeep emblem is upside down then remove the key... Steering wheel should lock.

I thought you had to slap yourself in the face twice to activate the anti punk.

I have '10 6 speed and I never worry about it, even though the steering doesn't lock. I purchased the Lowjack just in case, but I can't imagine SD has a high incidence of crime like this.

For 2007 - 2010's unless something's broken it should lock... Like I said above, turn the steering wheel so the jeep emblem is upside down then take the key out. Not sure if that works on 2011 or 2012s.

An auto is maybe five seconds more time consuming than the manual to get out of gear.Click image for larger version
