Default Manual Transmission Question

I’ve found it a lot easier to start in 2nd gear, is there any reason I shouldn’t do this? Will this wear out my clutch faster? I don’t do it in obvious situations like hills but in 2nd I can shift comfortably at around 1500 RPM’s as opposed to 2500 in first gear.

No it won't hurt anything............ Unless you're riding the clutch. When we only had 3 or 4 speeds in our CJ's, that's how we did it all the time. I do it about half the time now.

I would think if he was running 3.21's he would be riding the clutch to start out in 2nd. I could get away with it with the 3.73's until the 35's.
