I live in northern Canada where the temperature is below -20 deg celcius all winter and I don't have any grinding issues between 1st and 2. I put the center console air vents down so it will blow hot air directly on the shifter and let it warm up for at least 10 minutes before I start driving. If I don't do that 2 and 4 pops out below -10. The problem is that the inner shift boot is frozen solid and don't allow the gears to engage properly or pops out. Even in warm weather going from 1st to 2 is not smooth at all on the JK trans. I adapted the way I shift by pausing for 1 sec into neutral between 1st and 2 and it's a little smoother.

Hope that helps

They said it was.

Was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem...

You too?!?!?

Mine is at the dealership waiting for a new tranny as we speak. Same problem grid from 1st to 2nd and 4th to 5th and 6th to 5th. The syncros are fucked and we get a NEW tranny! Sucks it happened at 22k for you, mine is at 76k

Did they say the tranny is on back order? That's what they told me... had it in since last Thursday and hoping to have it back next week maybe....

Good luck!
