Mechanics-question
Is there a way to set the computer into a non computer controlled or standard(openloop) set of controls.
The reason I ask is because I would like to troubleshoot an engine without all the fancy shit running or compensating for engine trouble. Is this possible?

not a chance in hell that is possible
would be very useful if it was but it would allow far too many 3rd parties to "tinker" rather than having to take it to a dealer or 3rd party that has bought all the control hardware/software!

The answer is no.
All that "fancy shit" might just help you diagnose the problem and make your life that much easier.

I actually got my hands on a Chrysler DRB it was pricey, but well worth it. The answer is no you cannot bypass the computer. Riverendz is right though, all that fancy shit actually makes it easier to troubleshoot an Engine. It narrows areas to look down. I have been working on cars for 16 years (now its just a hobby and extra side money) These newer computers have made everything so much easier.
