Default My traction control tried to put me in the ditch

While on my way to work this morning I was driving down a road that had yet to be plowed, but there had been traffic on it. I was in 4hi and travelling about 35 mph and my JK was very "squirly" and the traction control light was going on and off. I turned the tc off and it drove straight.

I thought traction control was supposed to eliminate this, not cause it. What's the deal?

Traction control is for those who do not know how to drive on snow ice etc. I have found that i am already compensating for the conditions before the system kicks in.

Exactly, that is why I have mine in full off mode now.

Sometimes I think that traction control is more of a hinderance than a help.

My wife hates it too. I know on an 2008 if you put it in 4H and hold the ESP button while stopped it will turn the system off in 4H. but i think it enables after 40MPH

I thought it turns off when in 4WD, I don't get the "squirly" light when I'm in 4x. However, I often disable it when in 2WD, It's just too limiting on fun mountain roads.
