So, took my jeep on an old logging trail last week and after stumps and trees, my steering feels all messed up. When coming out of a turn at slow speeds the wheels are very jerky when returning to center. My jeep is at the dealership as we speak and they are installing new ball joints upper and lower on both sides for $600 because there is some slight play in them but they, by their own admission do not know if this will solve the problem. Does anyone have any ideas on this? I'm running 1.75" daystar coil spacers, 4.5" offset steel wheels and 33" tires if that has any bearing... thanks
It is not your ball joints. sounds like your front wheels are toed incorrectly. An alignment will tell the tale. They are trying to fix your vehicle by throwing YOUR money at it. As a professional auto repairman I'd get it out of there.....

unfortunately, the ball joint job is already in progress and now their telling me that my left axle joint is "toast", but they can't locate one, 2-3 days at best. They don't want to put it back together as that would be additional labor costs so I will just assume the position until this is over and more than likely will still have the same issue I went in with...

so, they replaced my ball joints and my issues started again, my toe is visibly off again. What would cause this? Is there a part that's worn that's loosening?

DONT EVER go to the dealership for something you damaged yourself.
