Not really horror stories, just something that happens to some. Mine leaked right above the rear view mirror, twice, hasn't in months,. Leaked twice right at the front driver door and A pillar...twice hasn't in a couple of months. Filled up the driver panel with water, leaked once...probably going to do it again then it won't anymore.

The way I look at is that you are dealing with a removable, multi piece top that uses rubber seals to keep water out. Sometimes you might not get them lined up perfect, sometimes there might be some dirt in it, some times they might get dry....and leak. Kind of a price to pay for the freedom these Jeeps offer that no other vehicle can match IMO.

If I have a puddle in the floorboard, will definitely go to the dealer, if my panel fills up again or I get a leak that constantly leaks every time it rains, I will go to the dealer. Basically, it has to be able to be replicated..that's what the warranty is for.

As far as a deal breaker, not for me. I was driving down the road the other day and looking at other cars and trucks on the road and I honestly can say, there is not any other car or truck that I would want over my JK. I can have a terrible day, get in my Jeep, and as soon as I sit down, I start to relax and get a smile on my face. It's a Jeep thing.

Another trick to find your leaks is baby powder.Sprinkle baby powder around your seals(when they are dry of course).Leave your jeep in the rain and observe for the leak.Next step would be to put your Jeep in a garage wipe dry and open your doors. You'll see the leaking areas /no powder around your seals.

You can also block off the vent in the tailgate and put the ac on full pushing out the windows. Spray it down and you will see the leak bubbling.

Good luck once you find "them" though.

Something I realized, during the time of extended rain, I did not have my big plastic cam bolts bolted in to the rear of the panels at the B pillar. I wonder it that caused it not to have a tight seal, allowed water to get in and collect through the drain hole in the drivers side panel. I did take the tops off one afternoon that it cleared up and the sun came out.

I will have to test it, since I emptied it Sunday, it has rained a lot yesterday and suppose to rain Thursday and into Friday, as much as 3". I have the cam bolts in. We will see.

Default Freedom top leaks

08 Unlimited with Freedom top. First it leaked on the dash between the two front panels at the windshield. Got that partially solved by squeezing the panels together before clamping. Next the right panel started filling with water and dripping down the rear bolt. Took it to the dealer and they did the seal kit. Dealer wasn't happy with the results and ordered a new right panel, nut, bolt, and a header seal. Hasn't leaked a drop since! Thank you Snethcamp Chrysler Jeep, Redford, Michigan.

Think I heard some sloshing around in my panel. Once it stops raining, will check my seals, make sure they are clean, try again. Or I might take my freedom panel in and "pee" on their floor and say, fix this please.

Wow...hate for this to be my first post....just to let you all know they haven't really fixed the wind noise...even on the 2010.
At least, it doesn't leak!
