Default New JK owner with death wobble!!

Have a 2007 JK just picked up last week. Has 48k on it and it's the sahara model. Noticed when driving on the highway and I hit a bump the front end began to shake violently causing me to pull over. Believe I have death wobble. I looked under jeep and track bar seem to be tight but did notice the tie rod and drag link I could rotated up and down with my hand but not laterally. I did purchase an extended warranty with the jeep and taking it in Thursday to have looked at. Also, the blower motor makes an awful sound when I turn it on. I assume this isn't normal either?

first off, welcome to JK-Forum! second, regarding your drag link and tie rod, being able to rotate them is totally normal and not a sign of the tie rod ends being bad. i doubt they are the cause of your problem. when you say you checked the track bar and that it "seemed" tight, did you take a torque wrench to it to verify that the bolts were tightend to 125 ft. lbs. of torque?

Even though track bar seems tight thats what death wobble is...loose track bar,it has to be torqued at 135lbs. is there anything in the wheels? chunk of mud anything that could also be causing and you need to tighten those 2 bolts or that stuff will come apart on the road...other than that idk. on a better note welcome to the forum

Be careful the dealer will most likely want to throw a steering stabilizer under it. From what I know this jsut masks the problem.

I just bought an 07 JK and on the test drive about 5 seconds after I thought "Man, I really like this Jeep" DEATH WOBBLE occurred. I freaked, salesman took the JK to the service dept and they replaced the steering stabilizer. I bought the JK anyway and haven't had any problems with wobble. Should I have the track bar inspected?

I'm gonna have the dealer loosen the track bar and and move the jeep up and down then tighten it back to torque specs. The stabilizer isn't leaking so I know it isn't bad plus stabilizer isn't the cause of DW. Plus gonna have the ball joints looked at and tires rotated.

Jharp it would certainly be worth it to have the track bar looked at and retorqued.

Yes, have it inspected. A steering stabilizer will not mask true DW, though. You can drive without a stabilizer and be fine. If the track bar is loose, the hole will wallow out and cause a bigger headache to fix the issue.
