i am njot familiar with the internal workings of a transmission, but maybe its something like when 4lo slips out on an incline.
maybe something is slipping inside trany but its not enough slippage to come comepletely out of gear.
at this point i would go to dealer and have them back up inclines untill they figure it out.

also, the people having the problem, is it manual or auto tranny?

im stumped

Default Shudders up my drive in reverse

Yep, My auto shudders up my inclined driveway every time. Feels like Torque converter is "slipping". No wheel hop or such.

Funny, seems like Jeep cant get trannys right. My wifes auto does this and my standard shift has the popping out of first problem

My last two jeeps.
after a lifetime of fun too....

Mine is doing the same thing up an incline. I have had it several time as the dealership down by me. The can not reproduce and are not willing to work with me to reproduce it. I was driving to Baltimore this weekend when my linkage went out so it got towed to Waldorf. I asked that dealership to reproduce it. The said they felt something but is blaming it on my after market skid plate. I told them it was a problem before the skid plate. They are willing for me to come show them what I am talking about. I am hoping to go tomorrow. I will update if I get anywhere with them. I can reproduce this every time I back up in my driveway. It just gets annoying.

how steep of an incline are you guys talking about? First thing i would do is check the fluid level also see if the fluid burnt or stinks. maybe the lever is just low enough that a incline pushes the fluid to the other end of the pan and basicly starvs the pump for fluid causeing torque converter shutter/ clutch slippage. there are so many things it could be with an automatic transmission especially a computer controlled/ shifted one. not to mention the clutches slipping also

Mine does it too. When it starts, give it more gas and it usually stops. If you are in a position where you have to back out slowly though (like an include parking spot), you just have to deal with it. I've been meaning to hit the ESP button the next time it happens just to see if it changes it. I remember reading in another thread something about the suspension angle and load or something like that...

Mine does this as well and it is a six speed. I have been told it is axle wrap?
My dealer blamed it on the lift kit, which could be the case... I don't know..

I was wondering if longer/adjustable control arms would fix this issue. Of the people this is happening to, How many are lifted? How many have stock drive shafts, and control arms? I did not notice this until after my lift kit was installed.
I have a Superlift 4", stock arms and drive shafts...

Mine does it too(automatic). i just went over 3k. my driveway is an incline and when i back in it happens only sometimes.
I just had her in for the first oil change and asked them to look in to the vibration/hum while at speed (of course they could not duplicate) but they did reflash my tranny. i have not had the hop happen since but the vibration/hum still happens but at different speeds and with a deeper vib/hum.
