Default New member with a few ?'s

Greetings!
First a little about me... I grew up driving lifted and modified Broncos and I love playing in the mud. I've been drag racing for years hence the screen name "RATFINK". So I find myself missing the mud riding and exploring of a great 4x4, I've always had a love affair with Jeeps.

Now I'm at a point in my life where I can buy whatever I want and I really like the 2010 Rubicons. They look like they can do anything my little heart would desire.

My plan is to keep this Jeep forever(my wife would really appreciate it). Although it bothers me what I'm reading about engine oil consumption and failures even with proper maintenance.

Are these claims founded? Or are they just one in a million? Please give me your opinions on this. I've done ALOT of searching and I've found that the general consensus is the problem is with buying used.

If you can please ease my fears.

Thanks in advance and I look forward to being a valuable member soon!

Robert

Welcome to the forum!

Youll get more info than you could imagine from this site. When it comes to buying used youve got a 50/50 chance that someone either took care of it, or abused the hell out of it. It is a Jeep, and people do Jeep things with them. If your worried about oil consumption issues and what not, then look into a new one. Sounds like you have already started. I got my 2010 back in Feb, love it, no issues. Just like any other vehicle if you take care of it, it will take care of you. Enjoy your new Jeep when you get it.

Thanks for the welcome JK Sport!

I'm buying new for sure. Only way my wife will allow! Hoping for a sale this memorial day weekend.

I have an 08 Rubicon and am very happy. It does seem that every other thread on here is about a problem with someones Jeep, but just remember that most people only post their problem, and not that their Jeep is running fine. Not only that, but because many of the members here wheel and beat their vehicles harder than your average soccer mom there are naturally going to be more problems that come up and because of the type of people most of us are, we will recognize when there actually is a problem. If it is what you want, go for it!! You wont look back

I have an 09 and been driving it for over a year now and have no mechanical problems. Only complaint I have is the center console does not lock good (Can still open with it locked with a good pull). I had them replace it and the new one does the same. But as far as the Jeep goes I guess there are lemons out there and feel sorry for those guys. Knock on Wood for writing this

This is very true. Most of my problems is from lifting it and adding mods. Sometimes I look back on the maintenance free stock Rubi.

My 08" has 25,000 miles and no problems. No leaks with both tops. The tires are wearing even with regular rotation. I run the motor hard, 85 mph in 4th gear. I do use Wix oil filters to avoid the knock at start-up.

you may want to save some money and get a sport instead of the rubicon. more money for the lift and bigger tires and wheels.
I have had one problem with my jeeps I blew the steering stabilizer on my 09 no problems other than that on any of the 3 of them.

Get the Rubi! You will not be disappointed.
And when you do, take it off-road before you do any mods at all, that is the best way to determine where you want to take it. ( with the exception of drilling the mirrors )

Bought my 2010 Rubi in January - So far I haven't had any issues. I choose to get a Rubicon so I didn't have to make a lot of major mods - I used to spend a lot of time wreching on my rigs, now that I am older, I prefer driving them more.
