Default New Rebuilt engine now p06DD

New rebuilt engine from local shop… reassembled the accessions and timing cover stuck it in there and had a p0113 and P06dd oil pump soliniod stuck closed. Snap on legend scanner will actuate the soliniod…( it clicks) it brand new from shop. A new iat sensor fixed the p0113 but can’t get the oil code to go away.

new oil filter housing update design. Oem filter, 2nd new oil pressure sensor and 5w-20 synthetic.

I did relearn all parameters on jeep with scanner it will barley start or idle… will start only with little throttle when running only had 39 psi of oil pressure. Is the new pump actually stuck closed!
New Dnj pump is believe the brand the shop used. Scanner shows only 39psi.

The oil is 5w-20 5.5 ans about half quart of Lucas. Surely that’s not the issue.

I've zero experience fixing the pentastar, but I think your right about the odds favoring an oil pump problem. But the other problem, barely idling and hard starting sound like another problem because 39 psi should be plenty for lubrication and the cam phasing. On the other hand, maybe it's 39 psi at the sensor, but it's leaking internally and it's too low downstream of the sensor? Maybe sucking air where the pickup tube attaches to the pump? Wanting to think all the symptoms should point to a single problem, but I just don't know much about this engine. Lots of P06DD vids on youtube, maybe one will turn the proverbial lightbulb on...

yeah that’s what got me is the not running. They say that is a fail safe doe the engine… ans seen where that is a symptom of the code… never seen this code before… be honest didn’t know these type of oil pump were out there. I know about vgt turbos haha… same concept kinda. But yeah if the wiring is bad Ive heard it would be a p06da circuit high or low etc but this is a code basically saying the pcm commanded the oil pump to go high mode and the PCM didn’t see any increase in oil pressure. I have wondered about the pick up o ring jt was new and really right to get in. If I drop the upper pan again. I’m for sure just changing the whole thing. Pump, soliniod, and why not new pick up. Both pans are new.

and most the P06dd videos they just replace the pump…. That kinda the fix.. I haven’t seen any solid ones says to test and verify besides the pressure not increasing. On the scanner at start up or above 3500 rpm.

im curious what ohm reading is for the soliniod. It does click with the scanner commanding on and off.

The solenoid click but no worky is common with stuff that's "pilot operated". Basically pilot operated means a small low energy solenoid moves a tiny valve, and the fluid (or gas) moving through the tiny valve operates a much larger valve or actuator.

The click is the just the solenoid itself, the rest can be totally plugged up, seized, whatever...

One more thought on the hard start and will barely idle problem; cam timing off. Did you verify the shop did it right?

That is true, I did no verify timing. Cold start like this am I checked it. After code delete last night it will start right up and run for about 10 secounds until it triggers the cold then go into like limp mode and die. Then hard to start after. But yes soliniod clocks doesn’t mean it is allowing the oil from pump to bypass and create more pressure. It is a brand new oil pump from the shop as well.

yup I’m thinking the new soliniod is faulty somehow.
