Default Noise 1st to 2nd gear

Recently I noticed a noise coming from my transmission when my auto shifts from 1st to 2nd gear. This does not happen during any other shifts, I've attached a video for reference

2010 JK Sport 3.8L v6
Automatic
3 inch lift
Dorman Transmission Cooler
144,000m

You don't have to do this, but the best way to share a video is upload it to YouTube and then simply post a link here that will embed the video in the post. It's hard to justify opening files from strangers on the internet. I personally can't risk it at work even if i wanted to.

Meant to listen to this last night but forgot. THAT is a weird damn noise! I can't say I've ever heard anything like that before. 100% certain coming from transmission?

Listening to a few more things on YT, starting to think it's likely torque converter starting to go out.

That is what I was leaning toward as well, do you think it would make those noises on the shift like that?

it could be just starting to go. Not the common noise I'd suspect, nor any shaking/shuttering along with it, but maybe it's just kinda the first sign. I think if that were my jeep, I'd run it by a transmission shop for a quick opinion. I'd think those guys have seen it all and they would be able to tell you without a doubt. It looks like there is a transmission-specific shop there in Glenwood Springs not too far away.

I don't recommend quick opinion way of getting that fixed. It will just come back to haunt you. Best approach is contact the transmission shop online. Describe your problem and they either say nothing or "when do you want to drop it off". Question is, when did this problem start. Do you use low gears a lot on your automatic. And if you do intend to get it fixed, be ready to spend some money. The average Manual Xmission is $1200.00. And that's the starting price for labor. Could be cheaper for Automatics. And you should be warned they can make a mess out of your center shift console. Reason being every Jeep year and model is built differently. And one other question is, have you checked the Xmission fluid level and could you wipe the fluid on a white piece of paper towel and see if there's black debris or deposits on the white paper towel. The fluid should be a clear red I think.

I brought it to a local transmission shop and he was perplexed as well. He recommended a rebuild.... 3500-4k. Fluid level was fine, but it did smell a little like burning metal. I do use my lower gears a lot up here since there is so much ice and steep grades. This is the first item on the Jeep I am perplexed about. Thank you all for your help so far, I'll keep you updated on the issue.

Yikes! I'm not sure the response would give me huge confidence either. I'd probably be seeking another opinion if it were mine. Just the noise right....no other symptom? Gosh, i'd probably go so far as taping and old cell phone to the tranny (unless ya got a go pro) and recording to capture what it sounds like right there when it's happening just to confirm and continue trying to narrow it down precisely.
