Odometer change after engine replacement
Hi all,
I lost the engine in my 2017 JKU Sahara at 68k miles. Threw a rod through the oil pan. I had a used engine installed. When I got it back, the odometer read 4k miles higher than when I dropped it off. I thought the odometer would stay the same? There is no way the mechanic went for a 4k mile test ride. lol. Any explanation for this? I have pictures of the odometer when I dropped the vehicle off. The used engine was supposed to have 55k miles on it.

This is very interesting; It is against the law to change and odometer and I believe that the mileage shown on the odometer is retained on the vehicle computer. How it got changed is a real mystery. You should check the VIN using a scan tool to ensure that the computer matches the vehicle.
