Oil change
So the manual says change oil at 8k miles , is this correct?
I've always done oil changes right at 3k faithful about this .
I want to get the best performance , and prolong the life of the engine

Oil technology has progressed a long ways in the last couple decades. There are still folks who cling to the 3,000 miles because "that's what my daddy taught me." They are wasting money and our planet's resources. I change at the interval recommended by the petroleum engineers, and I use extended performance Mobil 1. Have been doing this for the past quarter century, and I keep all of my vehicles for a decade and up to 200K miles. Never had a problem. I do change the Jeep's oil after particularly dusty runs, regardless of how long it has been in the crankcase.

you appear to know a lot about oil but believe dust is getting in your oil? Check your rings and install an air filter. You don't need to ponder, this is sarcasm. As for the general terms and speaking, many manufacturers will state to follow their recommended change intervals. Yes, the oil engineers tell you to go longer which is great however, FeW auto manufacturers are going to honor the oil companies claims. Additionally, the jeep is the first vehicle I have owned that didn't have in print, something along the lines of "change your oil every 7500 miles or more often if you are in one of the following conditions, stop and go traffic, off road use, towing a trailer, water exposure, extreme temps above 90 degrees or below 32 degrees, etc., etc." Every 3k here, full synthetic. I've never seen the bad side of this, but have seen many bad sides of letting it go long.
And that is assuming you're just using a conventional oil that meets the required specs.
It's possible that in light of your driving style the OCI could determine you need a 3,000 mile change. Or it may not indicate any change by the time you get to the 8k/1yr limit. (If you do change the oil without seeing the change oil message, be sure to reset the indicator. Otherwise it won't know you did the change.)
As Mark mentioned, the name brand oils are so advanced these days that even a decent conventional is quite a good oil.
Maryland is fairly temperate but you may consider a synthetic oil for the best cold start protection.
You'll be fine following the OCI and manual recommendations.
But be sure to regularly check the oil dipstick to watch the oil level.

I am relating my experience. What else would you have me do, go along with the "my daddy always said" crowd? My daddy taught me to accept new thinking and not be mired in doing it a certain way because we always have.

Is your jeep a 2013 or 2014? There has been some confusion over the changes in the oil filters for '12-14. So be sure you're getting the right one.
I use mobil 1. And have ever since I drained the factory fill. But be aware that technically Mobil 1 doesn't carry the Chrysler MS 6395 specification approval. No one really knows why as other mobil oils do. Some blame a spat between chrysler and mobil that resulted in or from chrysler dropping mobil in favor of shell (?) for factory fill and mopar branded oils.
There is little doubt that mobil 1 meets or exceeds the spec but just so you know...
