It seems that I am seeing more and more cars with long drain intervals have valve seal wear when they get over 100k miles. If your not keeping your Jeep that long, then do what you will. You will know when your valve seals start to wear because you will start seeing smoke coming out the exhaust after long idle periods. I tend to be a little more cautious and do the full synthetic changes at 5k. Could it go longer, I'm sure it could. If rather have one more change a year thank kicking myself for a big repair bill later down the road. Call it peace of mind but it make me sleep better at night. 😉

i hear ya, however, I am an "IFU" (instructions for use, aka owners manual), read them cover to cover. My volvos, land rover, dodge ram, etc., all stated to change more often than the 7500 recommended in numerous conditions. And I never had a daddy. I figured things out on my own. Cheers!

Coming from a MINI Cooper to a Jeep was fun! Oil changes in the MINI were 12-14000 using synthetic. I've been running synthetic since day one and have been doing 8-10,000 with no loss of oil or burning. Flame away, I've unsubscribed

For me, every 3,000 miles seems silly in a modern engine with quality oil, but 8,000 seems too long. Therefore I have chosen to do every 5,000 miles. Easy to remember. Many members on here have chosen this interval. I now have over 39,000 miles on my 2012 JKU. I use penzoil ultimate synthetic which does carry the Chrysler certification.

Have been doing this for the past quarter century, and I keep all of my vehicles for a decade and up to 200K miles. Never had a problem. I do change the Jeep's oil after particularly dusty runs, regardless of how long it has been in the crankcase.
X's 2! Totally agree!

I'll be due for my 40,000 mile change in a week or two. I hope they still have the penzoil ultimate. I used to get it at Walmart as the Advance Auto didn't have it. Now that you mention it, I don't recall seeing it at Walmart. Anybody know if they discontinued it? I have been very pleased with it.

Modern oil could work fine much longer, MB/BMW already would not suggest to change before 10-15K miles. Filter is the problem, not oil. So, yes 5k is good for synthetic and I don't use any other.

All my vehicles have been maintained the same way. Dump original oil and filter at 2000 mi and then switch to synthetic and every 5000 mi after.
A lot of people think it's a waste of money, but when I drain my oil at 5000, it's pretty dirty. I also do a lot of city driving.
