x2 on what Lorrel said. There has been some engine knocking on startup with some aftermarket filters but not all. Seems bypass in filter is the culprit and some are different enough to be slow getting oil pressure up during startup.

I also use the mobil filters and they have two different sizes that fit the JK. One is longer buy about an inch.

Default Mobil

Yep, I also use the M1-209 for the larger capacity. I've been using it for the past 15,000 miles with no issues.

filter on the JK is exactly the same as the one on my 2002 2.0L neon r/t
and the new 2.0L compass (dads jeep) as well as the same one on a 2.4L patriot

You know the saying "measure twice, cut once" don't f...w/it . Go back and double check. While you're at it, get a K&N oil filter and synthetic oil.

Good luck

x2 for 18K miles. If someone were to buy my JK used and go buy the specified part, they'd probably post on JK-Forum that their filter was too small: The Mobil 1 filter is quite a bit larger than the OEM Mopar filter (which measure 2.9" diameter x 3.5" long). If there's a smaller filter on the market, it must be for a moped! LOL.
