"Oil" Message on 2011
Yeah, it's only the auto trannys you have to worry about. The torque converter slips in certain driving situations (towing, hilly terrain, crawling offroad in 4-Hi, etc) causing the fluid to heat up and as Chrysler doesn't install an aux transmission fluid cooler to non-export models the fluid gets hot. In extreme cases the fluid boils and sprays out the top of the filler tube and all over the red-hot cats causing the Jeep to burst into flames. Chrysler added the "hot oil" warning to later models to warn you of this impending inferno so yeah, it's only for autos. As long as your fluid level isn't low in your 6-speed you'll be fine.
Could you have reset it on accident? I know sometimes "old habit" I use to pump the gas pedal before starting it. Just a thought.
If you did have a light come on you might be able to see if there are any trouble codes that were thrown. Im not sure the dance to get them to display but if there was an issues you might see the code for it and can look it up.
Someone on here knows how to do the above.
Hope that helps!
