Default Opinions Needed

Hi All,
Quick Question: Will I miss not having a locking rear diff, if I don't buy a Rubi?
I wouldn't be doing any extreme off roading, just some ocean beach and snow and light mud work (hehe)...
I'll be buying a JK soon and wasn't planning on spending the extra dough for a Rubicon, but I'm worried I'll miss not being able to lock the rear......Last truck was a Z71 Tahoe and the G80 locker did come in handy (although it was rarely needed.)
Any advice would be great, Thanks for your time!

Sounds like you don't need a Rubi. I'd recommend the Trac-Lock LSD, though. For $295 it's a steal and a good mid-way point between an open diff and lockers. My old JK had Trac-Lock and it handled some pretty gnarly trails.

If you don't see yourself using or needing lockers on regular basis, you can go without a Rubi and get some Aussie or ARB lockers down the line. The difference in price between a Sport/Sahara to a Rubi should leave you with enough savings to add one later if you see the need for it.

U don't need em mate..the stock brake lockers on X models work very well for the wheeling you're going to do...

All great advice here. I for one respect the Rubi and it's out of box brawn. Our use is the same, not extream wheeling, light trails and moderate mud.

Went for Sahara with the LSD. Really good road maners (mid bias ratio I'd say) and excellent performence on the highway with 14" of snow and a sneaky ice pack as your base layer.
Just you, snowploughs, and Ski-Doo's on the road
