Dealing with this dumb code myself now on my '13.....it happens just from time to time....usually with a good length of time in between. Just enough to be annoying. Time to start inspecting the list of culprits....ugh.

It's actually pretty easy to play the game and replace. Costs less than $80. Buy all the parts online.

Check evap plastic lines that are next to the battery. They sometimes rub.

My theory on this after pulling my hair out is that not many people actually have a leak in the lines. It always comes down to those units specifically the o-ring not making a tight seal. You could play parts roulette with it for the same price as a smoke test or buying the kit from harbor freight to do your own.
what kit from harbor freight are you referring to?

Harbor freight has a smoke test for 80 last time I checked. The higher end model was $119

Default P0456

I had to go QUICKLY from ON to ACC 3 times to get the code. Felt around below the battery, and sure enough I felt a rough spot. I taped it twice. Turned the key to ON and STILL had the check engine light. Reading more of these posts, I found that you must RESET the computer and clear it, by disconnecting the negative terminal. Did that and NO MORE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.
Thanks everyone.

is there a trick to removing /reinstalling the evap integrity module? I couldn't see a clear way to remove it and don't want to compromise the line.

It is a 1/4 turn but you've got to get the tab behind the unit. It's easiest to pull that line off of the unit and then get your fingers in there.

Sorry I should have been more specific. I can't get the black hosing off the nipple coming off the module. Yes the other side is 1/4 turn with a tab pushed. I got the hose end off by squirting some water on the hosing which is hard and
suffering from the dehydration.

Didn't have time to check the code, so I went for my assignment and one hour later my reader told me it was a P0456.
I noticed something else:
1. The engine didn't quite sound like it used too, it may be just me but I spend half of my life in that Jeep. Can't tell what the difference is, but is just different.
2. ECO ON won't activate. You may not use the ECO ON feature on the Odometer. It normally reads ECO when you're driving "normally", and ECO ON when you're driving like an old lady. I do my best to keep that thing at ECO ON, not really hard once you get used to it. As long as you have the appropriate gear, it should read ECO ON when you're under 2000-2100 rpm. If you're coasting downhill most definitely you'll get ECO ON. Well, I'm not getting it even when coasting at 60 Kph+. But my OBDC reader still indicates that my fuel efficiency is 0 L x 100 Km (about infinite miles per gallon) when coasting down the hill.

I did a quick visual on the lines by the battery and the gas cap seal and they look good to me.
Got to check again and probably hard-reset the code.
exact same thing on my 2011 what was the fix for this
