Paint Etching???
What exactly is paint ethcing?

I am also curious. I did notice that my 2-door JK has what looks like a seam that runs the entire length of the tub on one side (the driver's I believe). Basically it is painted over really well, but you can see a perfectly straight line running from the door all the way over the rear bumper and to the tail light. It was like this at delivery.

Paint etching is when you are wearing low rider jeans when you are painting and some paint drips down your butt crack when you kneel down.

Just got back from the dealer. My service advisor was out "sick". Her replacement was completely useless, so I didn't even bother asking him. They had to order a part so I should be back there in a couple days and I'll ask them then.

According to this, paint etching is when you have circular spots or splotches etched into your paint - like a spot from bird crap when left on too long or resembling a cigarette burn. I am guessing the bullet only applies to the horizontal (side) panels because spots on the hood would be much easier to claim as being caused by bird crap.
