It appears to be the standard type drum brake. That pad looks like it still has some meat on it. Thanks for the pictures.

Maybe a dumb question but did you try adjusting your parking brake first? As mentioned those look like they still have meat on them.

It's not a dumb question. No I haven't adjusted the parking brake yet. I was going to but since I have to do the rear brakes, rotors, and a caliber I figured i'd just do it all at once while I was in there.

Its very easy to adjust the E-brake while you have the rotors off. There is a spring in there with a "star" adjusting screw on it. You can use a screw driver or a brake adjusting tool and turn it to make it tighter. I have had to adjust mine twice already.

I like adjusting it just to the point where it gives resistance when putting the rotor back on, then when it is on I go one more click on the adjusting star. This seems to give me a pretty good brake.

There is a pretty good thread about all of this, I will see if I can find it.

HTH

Good luck

Here you go, pretty much anything you'll need to know about your rear brakes.

Let me know if you have any questions, I have had them off a few times and its all pretty easy.

reviving an old thread!
Can anyone tell me for sure if I have to remove the axle rod to replace the emergency brake pads? I narrowed down my awful rear brake noise to the emergency brakes. any suggestions would be helpful.

No you do not need to remove the axles.

I remember pulling mine. Did I do something more difficult than needed?

You probably made your life easier from the looks of that drum set up.
