We got heavy rain yesterday and I didn't see any leaks from the hardtop but did see a small/occasional drip coming from the A Pillar plastic and on to the dash by the tweeter. I don't think it would have been enough to wet the carpet to the extent that it was and I only noticed it on the drivers side. I did, however, get soaked when I opened the door and all of the water draining from the roof ran into the footwell!

I wonder if perhaps when the dealer was washing the car before I bought it (last week) if some water got in and that's why I noticed wet carpet a few days later? It was only the area directly under the floor mats and the mat itself wasn't wet. (Drain plugs are in.)

I have a near identical issue as JK4AER.

I installed a set of Rugged Ridge mats yesterday and noticed the carpet under the driver side mat was slightly damp. The mat itself was bone dry but the carpet under the mat was damp and I have never noticed a single drip of visable water anywhere.

Anyone have any ideas as to where this is coming from????

It is coming from a bad seal between the winsheild and the header seal. Run a small bead of silicone sealant between the winshield and header seal and your a pillar leak will be gone.

Ryanc, I read through all 10 + pages of posts that come up searching "leak" and I've seen you suggest that solution to everyone. Do you have a recommended sealant? I've also noticed that you are adamant about not taking it in to the dealer as the problem will only get worse. I appreciate you taking the time to respond to everone's post. It still seems like the runoff from the channel along the side of the Freedom top above the door will still cause a problem with the A Pillar since it pours right on to this area?

Also, do I pull back the header seal and apply the sealant or apply it over the top of the seal where it meets the windshield?

I took my Jeep to shop 2 weeks ago and was in there for a week. They did the seal replacement and today after a big rain I walk out to SOAKED water under drivers mat, WET sound bar pad. Then noticed that now my console and top of dash have a leak that was not there in the beginning. What do I do, I'm to a point of regretting the purchase of a new vehicle that leaks and has issues.

I know it's not much consolation, buttThe JK has at least twice the hard top seam length as previous Jeeps and air and water leaks are less prevalent. And at least the leak is visible in this case.

The YJ had a leak that dripped into the window frame and rusted out years later. Mine rusted out through the paint at ~98K miles and the Chrysler warranty djuster/inspector denied my claim because my tires were not stock and the 3 weeks between when I bough the tires and adjusted my odometer were enough to potentially exceed the 100K mile rust warranty.

Here is the deal guys, these things are going to leak, however every leak can be fixed. First thing first, is DO NOT TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. We can work through all these leaks. A little Dow COrning 111 here, a little RV foam there, a little black silicone sealant over there, and all leaks will be gone.

Some pics of how and where you fixed the windshield/header leak would be great.

Without pics I'm not exactly sure where you are talking about putting the sealant.
