Please help!! Doors off?!?!?!
I have an 07 unlimited x and wanna take the doors off, someone please baby step me through it, I don't have a Manual. Also when I get them off how do I trick the system to think the doors are closed so the dome light will go off as well as turn the radio off when I get out

AND REMEMBER NOT TO LET YOUR DOORS SWING OUT AND DENT YOUR HOOD WHEN YOU REMOVE THE RETAINING STRAPS.

The door hinge pins should have a T50 Torx head cap on the bottom of 'em, remove the 8 of those (two per door).
For the front doors: open the door, detach the wiring harness (be careful, there is a red tab you need to slide to one side before you can do this, then push in the black tab and pull the harness apart, shouldn't take a lot of force). Then you need to detach the webbing for the door retention strap (slide it up off it's holding pin). At this point, be careful the door doesn't swing all the way open, or you get some nice dings from the mirror mounts... Then lift the door up and off. Since you have a 2007, if the doors have never been off before, this make take some wiggling, maybe some additional leverage... (put a 2x4 underneath and use a jack, or just give it some solid whacks). Put the door somewhere "safe"...and repeat on the other side.
For the back doors: You need to slide the front seat all the way forward...
Wait a second, or you could just go to: http://project-jk.com/jeep-jk-write-...r-door-removal and follow the step by steps with directions. Knew there was a write up on this somewhere.
Make sure your local laws allow you to run without side mirrors, or have something you can use to mount some sort of side mirrors. Other than that, have fun. The radio shuts off after 30 seconds, so just... enjoy the theme music as you walk away from the Jeep.
Random Stranger: "Your radio's still on."
You: "I know."

Great!! Thanks so much... Been cleaning and brainstorming mods all day, I was so psyched to do this right now and ride around like a dog with the wind in my face but was then shut down by the girlfriend ... Meh. I'll attempt it next weekend... Front tops off and 4 windows down for now. It's off to Orlando this weekend. Today my day has been filled with an iPad install. Or attempt anyways. I ordered an AV cable from Apple to have it run through my after market flip out head unit. Pros: the cable charges it with a simple USB charger, it plays all sound through the jeep speakers, and naturally has much better navigation than the 3 almost 4 year old garmin in my deck.
Again. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I do think they may be a little tough to lift off, the paint around the top of the bolt and the hinge looks like it's never been separated/broken apart.

If it's an 07 and you've never had them off it may not be easy (understatement). Easier to do it with the windows down. Requires 2 people. Put your ass inside the jeep on the floor and get your knees under the doors. Lots of WD40. Patience. Persistence. Wiggling. Keep at it. WELL worth it! Took mine off in May (don't forget to remove all of the floor plugs) -- got tired of worrying about wet carpets -- ripped them out (easy). Decided this was going to be an annual event so had the whole tub Line-xed. kept the doors off until October 1st (big deal in Canada). Sad day when I had to put them back on. Taking them back off in May! It is a completely different vehicle with doors off, you will love it.
EDIT: Some posters have used a jack to get them off when really stuck, but sounds a bit sketchy to me.

I just took mine off on my used '07. I don't think they had ever bene off. I agree that it may be a B**** to get them off. You may have to really give it your all to get them loose!
Just be careful when they finally come free.
