DeeDee -- It sounds like the oil loss was due to a faulty filter and/or installation, but never drive any further than absolutely necessary for personal safety with the oil light on. Immediately pulling over and turning off the key can save an engine, The light means there is no oil pressure. The reason it doesn't automatically shutoff the engine is to sacrifice the engine to avoid accident and injury. This is the case for any car made.

I'll be at 175k miles on my 3.8 and it runs like a top. I wouldn't be opposed to replacing it with another motor to last another 175k miles.

I got my 09 in 2011 with just under 35K, & I have it clocked just over 115,500 with no issues. Is on stock tire-size & gearing.
It does have slight oil consumption between changes, but I'm attributing that to the oil pan gasket leak that needs changed (for now). Just had the 42RLE rebuilt for a bad TC. Was daily driver for past 6 years, but recently just got an "econo" DD to leave the Jeep for weekends & wheeling. Hoping that she'll last another 15-20yrs!

2008 Rubi on '33's, 75k miles and uses less than a quart between changes. Only other minor issues, upper ball joints at 71k, slightly leaking water pump gasket at 3k (fixed it myself) and a slight growl from belt tensioner at 50k (also fixed myself). The ball joints were not a surprise and along with the 75k in miles I towed it an additional 85k behind the motor home. Overall very pleased with the product.

Turned 180,000 and still running. Hoping not to see the sudden death of a trashed cylinder.
