I was wanting to do a poll for the 2007-2011 JK Wrangler. I'm curious how many miles/life of these 3.8L V6s before they croak. Please share the odometer reading, and if you've had any problems from the engine; or perhaps something else. I put this poll under stock but was debating the modified board since I, and others upgrade their Jeeps. I'll start off with mine: 2007-55K=No problems. fwbb

71,000 miles, no problems at all with only preventative maintenance done. 2007 Unlimited, 33's with some other basic mods. Just completed a 4,400 mile round trip from Florida to the Grand Canyon and Ouray Colorado Jeep Jamboree in late September. MBRP cat back and CAI are only engine mods.

My '09s done a shade over 40K miles; runs smooth & reasonably quiet (except for that annoying heat-shield buzz) with no issues. About 80% city & the rest highway/offroad.

Been running 5W30 Castrol Edge since new, oil changes with Mopar filter every 3-4K miles; drinks about a third of a quart between changes.

Default Actually drove me to get rid of it

At 1012 miles the computer died

At 26013 I noticed it was almost out of oil, dealer said it was due for a oil change and they did a oil change.

28005 I check oil to only find it had 3 quarts left, brought it in and they said it is normal and gave it another oil change.

32000 oil change and guess what, low by 2 quarts of oil

35700 and I'm at the dealer as the oil light came on and they found nothing and changed the oil

39000 and same problem but now its a timing cover issue. Do you think this problem has existed awhile? I refused to pay top dollar from the dealer and had a freind buy it for me who was their master mechanic at a different dealership.

42000 ball joints are toast in the front and had to replace all 4

49000 ball joints are going again and had to replace again.

Not the kind of experience I wanted on such a awesome vehicle... I really miss it and have the bug again and might consider the 2012 but I need to wait until sometime next year.

Needless to say I traded it in for a convertible Mercedes CLK350 to hold me over...

Replaced engine at 59k due to oil consumption and leaking head gasket.
