First post - been reading quite a bit before I bought my 08 JK. Great place for lots of information!

Two days after I picked up my JK, I noticed the pax carpet was damp. So i pulled it up and the white padding was pretty wet, but considering it hadnt rained since I picked it up. My first thought was the AC leaking inside, so i left carpet out the whole week running the AC and heater every time i drove, but nothing - no water.

So reading a bit more, someone mentioned looking at the door seals where it meets the top; i have a hard top. Once i started looking at that, i noticed the top of the door not sitting flush when closed, sticking out about 1/4"; and he bottom of the door also not sitting flush, actually in by 1/4". After some adjustment of the hinges (inside door panel), door seals a lot better. I think its safe to say this could be the culprit.

Wow that was not sitting correctly at all. I get water leaks as well, I'll have to see if my doors are seating properly and start with this.

Unfortunately Jeep hasn't learned how to mount and adjust doors yet. I hope that fixes the problem and probably the reason some have leaks and some don't.

Previous owner? ... no sorry, for this very reason I wouldn't buy a new or used 2008-09 Jeep. Those were the years they started shutting down second shifts, furloughs, you name it ... probably the worst years in Jeep history. The production line workers did their best to produce crappy vehicles as they were laid off. No more money to buy weed for their lunch breaks.

I saw several new 2008 Jeep SRT8's in dealer lots with misaligned doors and gaps in the sheet metal. At least half were poorly assembled at the factory. Maybe you should have bought a new 2012. Whatever your issues are I hope it works out for you...

Adjust hinges. You said in door panel. Wouldn't you adjust them outside where they attach.

 

everytime it storms here in texas my carpet behind the driver seat and both in front of and behind the passenger seat get wet....mostly in the front passenger side..can't seem to find out from where...i just pop the drain plugs and take out the carpet....let it dry out.

 

My Jk has been leaking only on the driver front floor board area. If it sits in the driveway in the rain, no leak. When I drive it in the rain, it leaks. I have checked the door alignments and they are fine. I was watching it while driving in the rain this morning with the carpet removed. It looks as the water is seeping up from the rubber drain plugs. As soon as it stops raining and floor board dries out, I'm gonna gorilla glue the drain plugs in place. This should solve my problem.

 

My 2011 JKU has been in for a leak in the pass side front floor area 4 times. It is in the shop again now. I was contacted by the dealer and they are saying that the leak specialist found that one of the door hinges was missing a bushing from the factory and that the door was not sitting right. They are removing the hinge getting a new one and painting it to match my jeep. They seem to think this is the cause of the leak. I had all the other fixes dine and this is the last except for replacing the sift top and frame.

 

Might want to clean the roof top seals and put a little Dow Corning 111 silicone grease and
Reinstall the roof top per OEM specifications sequence. Did that with mine, and now no more
leaks.
