Default Question about secure storage with top off

Ok, so I'm a newbie and finally took the hard top off the jeep last weekend. Now I'm looking for a secure storage solution. There are several to choose from including Tuffy products like the Security Deck Enclosure https://www.tuffyproducts.com/p-294-...enclosure.aspx. Bestop makes an instatrunk as well. These products rely on the rear tailgate being locked to provide full protection. My question is, if someone reaches over the doors and hits unlock, the tailgate unlocks. It seems like a pretty big limitation. Am I missing something?

Well in my jeep I don't have electric locks so this product would work for me. I guess this must have been made with that kind of jeep in mind. You're right. I don't think it would work with yours.

I bought a metal 'truck' box meant for an ATV and mounted it just behind the rear seat of my '07. I used wing nuts on on the inside, so when the box is locked, you cannot remove the box, but it only took about a minute to unscrew the wingnuts and remove the box if I needed to.

I took the box out before I sold it and will be re-installing it in my '12 when I get a chance.

It's something like this

Plenty of room for a computer bag, recovery bag, etc.

I use Tuffy's security full center console. Much larger than stock console, taller with larger arm rest. Works awesome! Unless you're looking to store bigger items ofcourse

Use the remote to lock the Jeep, then wait about 30 seconds and try reaching in and hit the button. It shouldn't work. It supposed to be deactivated after a short delay.

Looks clean, seems easy so thought I'd try it.
Here is a link to Cabela's for these (I bought mine there just for convenience but I'd bet you could find them for less).

Yep. Use the remote lock and the rear won't open. I have the Tuffy and love it. No issues.

When I purchased my rear deck enclosure, I pulled the black vented panel on the right side of the tailgate, right in front of the latch, and disconnected the electric lock for the tailgate.
