I am trying to find out if my hitch on my Jeep (I bought used) came factory or not. It looks like the factory hitch and there is a small notch in the bumper for it to fit, There is a hitch wire harness up there but is kind of shoved up between the hitch mount and the bumper, is not mounted anywhere. Does anyone know if the non-tow package jk's have bumpers with a notch for the hitch? or a way for me to tell if I have the tow package?

If dealer or even an owner installed, it would look identical. You can request a build sheet from Chrysler to learn exactly what your Jeep left factory with.

You can do one of two things or both.

Go to this website, it pretty much gives you the exact build sheet you can get from Jeep. compnine.com/vid.php

The other option is to go on to Jeep.com and email them your VIN# and and tell them you want a build sheet they will get you one in about a day depending if its the weekend or not.

I ran to the compnine.com, I am guessing from what mine VIN came back with that I have the tow package as it says I have the 3.73 Axle Ratio but it also shows XEWP 2 Front & 1 Rear Tow Hooks?, saw something that confused me though. sorry for the ignorance but it also says Next Gen. Dana 44 HD Rear Axle. I thought the next gen Dana 44 HD rear axle was on the Rubi?

I went to the compnine site and it could not find anything on my VIN. I entered it twice and know it's right but it couldn't find anything. Anyone else had that problem?? It says "Sorry, sales code information is not available." :(

What year is yours? maybe it takes them a year or so to update the site? mine is an 08. even had details down to as far as the trail rated silver badge.

Some unlucky buyers received D35s in the rears of early models.

Mine is a 2010. Got it new in Feb. Maybe it does take them a while. Who knows.

You can't confirm the factory tow package by the 3.73 gears if you have an automatic. 3.73 is what the '08 and later non-Rubi automatics came with.
If you have the factory style hitch, and the trailer light harness, you have everything the factory tow package would have come with.
