Well that was it... $.00001257 is about all it costs. .

I did this several years ago to fix the same issue in a different car (chrysler product also), but never figured the noise i was getting this time around had anything to do with the latch "catch" assembly.?

my '11 had this clunk too. sounded like it was in the pillar but after reading this thread i decided to wd40 the latching mechanism in the door. so far no more clunk. if it returns i'll tape it. i noticed i have to give the passenger door a good slam or the door open light stays on the dash. ive never had the doors off either.

I have this same clunk noise when hitting a bump on a new 2012 Unlimited. Sounds like it's coming from the "B" panel next to your ear. Were the upgraded strikers standard equipment by 2012? It's at the dealership right now and they seem clueless. I spoke to their best mechanic who also has a 2012 with the same klunk and he has been unable to fix it. I provided them the striker p/n's and they had never heard of this fix.

EDIT: Told them to tape the door striker loops and take it for a test drive. A miracle happened: the clunking is gone. They are now ordering the new "upgraded" striker parts and will install tomorrow. So obviously Chrysler had not fixed this problem by 2012, and probably into the 2013 models also. Unbelievable. Thanks all for this great thread, and my not too swift dealer sends thanks too.

Do you have any updates for us? I am hearing this clunk in my 2012 JKU and am wondering if I should just grease the assembly, tape the striker or bring it to the dealer.

I have this same rattle in my '12 and it's driving me crazy. What would you suggest I say to the dealer when I drop it off to get fixed? All to often they can't replicate the rattle when I take something in and then look at me like I'm crazy.

Bump. Just wanted to bump this up top. Thinking about taking it in this morning and wanted thoughts on what to tell the dealer. What was it that was the problem for you guys when it wasn't the door? Mine occurs even with doors off.

Bumping this thread again. I am being a lazy ass and didn't want to read through 41 pages to determine what the issue is. At least I searched for this thread!

So, what was the cause of this super annoying clunk in my drivers side b-pillar?! And the fix?
