Realistic off road capabilities of stock '12 JKU Sport?
While I have been waiting on the money to do my tires and lift I have been wheeling my stock sport. The only limits to what it can do are clearance and you. I have scraped the dirt countless times, and I've had some high rocks dent skid plates, but the jeep made it through some pretty tough crawls. If you do want to off road, you can do it even with your stock tires.
Personally, I bought 35's so I don't have to go around some of the harder obstacles that either clearance or tire size limit you on. Those obstacles are out there, just know your jeep and your capability. Best way to do that is go out (with others) and find out.

Just curious of what my new Jeep can and can't do off road.
Also what can I do to make it more capable and still keep my awesome gas mileage?
I don't want a lift or huge tires, I'm thinking of more aggressive tires in the same size and leveling kit.
Anything else I should look into?
Thanks.

Hi, before you level your jeep, if you mean raising the front end up to be even with the back, study! That alone will knock your fuel economy down at least a couple miles per gallon. Jeep designed it that way for the aero effect. Just so you know. As far as a stock jeep in the off road, just go far enough to watch the modified jeeps play and stick to the shutter bug trails. Good luck
Do you have the stock tires (225-75-16) or the S package tires (255-75-17)? I upgraded to the S package tires (found some take-off tires and wheels for cheap), put the 3/4" spacer in the front and my gas mileage didn't seem to be affected (18-19mpg average). A little bit bigger tire that's also more aggresive will help. I'd also recommend some swaybar disconnects and just see how good it can do.
Thanks,
Sean
Is this true? For four door as well as two? I was not aware of this. I have read about people putting rubi springs on non rubi and seeing a slight increase in height, however I had not read the general statement you made about rubi suspension being 2 inches taller. I have a JKU sport and a coworker has a JKU rubi. Both 2012 models purchased at the same time. Other than red colored shocks, I do not see any difference in height.
I started a post a while back that pertains to this exact subject... Good luck in your future build!!

That's the funniest thing I've seen in a while.
