Out of warranty I take it? No extended "drive train" warranty?

How exactly does this sort of thing happen with regular highway driving? I drained and refilled my diff 25k ago (7 months) and now I'm wondering if I should check it again. Yikes.

From his last post, he has already regeared to 4.88's. Factory warranty is gone, though might be warrantied through the shop that did the gears...
