Rear End Clunk/Bang When Turning
Found Threads on Stearing clunk and Front end clunk but not on rear clunk.
When I make a right turn I get a Clunk or Bank fron my left rear and when I turn left I get it Clunk or Bang fron the right rear area. I can also get it to do it driving strait and jerking the wheel right or left. Jeep has less than 10,000 miles ans is a stock X. Took it off road once on a very easy trail with a few small rocks.
Any Ideas????
Warranty ????
Thought I would ask the experts before making the dealer call.

I have not changed the diff fluid yet. Only have 9400 miles my jeep. I do believe I have a trac-lock limited slip rear differential but not 100% on that. My jeep is a 2008 X with pizza cutters for wheels (yes that stock.) I love to drive them and mod um but that is about as far as I go. Hopefully this is nothing but something lose or covered under warranty so I can get the weels and tires next pay check, that is the plan anyways.
I really don't think it is coming out of the Diff though. Sounds like the "metal" is poping. Best way to explain it is it either sounds like a bowling ball is rolling around the back banging when I turn or the sound sheet metal makes when you "bend" it if that makes sence.

Took my jeep to the Dealer today to have them look at the problem. They took it for a test drive and comfirmed the Bang in the rear. After looking at the suspension and diff they were still scratching their heads. Then they found the problem...
wait for it, wait for it...
My jack was lose in the back and was banging around when I turned!!
...feel like a dumbass but at least it was nothing serious.

I had this problem too, I couldn't figure it out...
it ended up being the uper control arms in the rear were loose.
That allowed the entire axle to shift when starting out or some corners.
go huncker over your rear tire and shake the Jeep front to back while looking at the upper control arm mount in the back.
I could see it wiggle.
also, I could see the axle shift at the pinion/CV joint.
once I tightened it, all good.
I hope this helps, I chased that clunk for mounths, I even PM'ed redneck, pignajeep and wayolife...
