Default Recommendations for a new Catalytic Converter? How about the Magnaflow Universal?

2011 2 Door, 94K miles, replaced engine with remanufactured engine at 74K miles (a whole different story). Have been throwing some codes since new engine was put in and a CEL that resulted in replacing the EGR valve that was stuck open, then replaced an O2 sensor and now the shop is saying I need replace the catalytic converter on the passenger side.

In looking at pricing online, it seems unnecessary to replace the entire pipe assembly but rather replace the CC itself...but then again, I'm no mechanic either and usually leave this stuff up to the shop. I looked at a universal CC on the Quadratec website and the Magnaflow Performance Universal Catalytic Converter 9000 series Manufacturer Part No: 99106HM, appears to be able to be the replacement part I need...and for super cheap. Magnaflow 99106HM - MAGNAFLOW Performance Universal Catalytic Converter - Quadratec

The shop (not the stealership) says to "be careful" using the universal parts as they may not be what I need and could affect performance.

So my question is, has anyone used this universal cat, and if so what are your opinions? Any recommendations otherwise?

Any help is appreciated.

You might be able to call some shops doing Hemi/LS conversions and see if they have spare ones laying around.

I note that your "generic" part specifically says will not accommodate oxygen sensors. Without a properly reporting oxygen sensor, you will get a check engine light. In your home location (Texas), you won't pass a vehicle safety inspection with that CEL (at least that's the problem my daughter, a student at Rice University in Houston, has run into). I'd follow your shop's advice on this one.
