Here's what my 2010 full manual says. I'm guessing the low fuel light is treated as an engine warning light?
Thanks for the link aristobrat, I downloaded the electronic version to my iPad for reference when away from my Jeep where I keep my book.

I have a similar problem with my remote door locks. Occasionally I will hit the button and nothing. I have to open the door with the key, then jump in to start the Jeep to kill the alarm. Next time I use it, it works fine? Last week I hit the button to lower the window and nothing, neither window. I turn off the Jeep, restart, and the windows work fine? As much as I love my Jeep, the electronics leave a bit to be desired.

Get used to it ... 2010 Grand Cherokee SRT8s do this all the time. Try holding the button down longer or press the lock door button again several times as the lights flash, then try unlocking it again. There's a long ass thread about this on another Jeep site.

Sometimes if you simply hold the button down firmly for a longer duration the receiver gets the signal.
