Default Replace just the upper ball joint?

I'm about 4000km from home.
My upper passenger ball joint is looking pretty bad.
Due to time constraints, I would like to replace just the one upper ball joint.... When I get back home I can replace all 4 with quality after market.

Is this reasonable?
Will I be able to remove the knuckle without damaging the lower ball joint?

Cheers

You can get the knuckle off without damaging the either but geez, it's the same amount of work to just change both while it's disassembled.

Change both. The lower one takes the full load. It takes maybe 15 extra minutes to do the 2nd one, so there is no reason not to do it while everything is broken down.

Yep, if you got to do one, do both.

I did the shovel test and the upper ball joint had lots of horizontal movement.

Thanks for all the replies guys.
I changed out both, and made the trip home.
