Default Replace oil pan gaskets

The garage called to say that I was leaking from the oil pan lower gasket. They recommended doing the upper and lower since they were having to pull it apart anyway. Of course, I said sure even though I wasn't aware there were two gaskets. They told me around $650, shocked,, I agreed. Has anyone else had experience with this? I was surprised to find very little in the search.

I always thought it was just RTV’d on. Yeah that’s expensive. No experience with this issue or usual cost. I could see $300 for labor, oil, new oil filter and cost of RTV. If you’ve already paid them not much you can do. If you haven’t you can take it elsewhere or better yet call around shops and ask how much they want for the job.

If it's the 3.8, then it's an easy job that can be done from under the vehicle.
there is an upper and lower, but there is only a gasket available for the upper.
the lower is an "RTV" job.

The PO of my wrangler used black RTV on the lower.
I had to pretty much destroy the oil pan in order to get it off.

Use something like Ultra Grey.
Ultra Blue worked fine for me, but I was planning to remove the oil pan for a replacement after I finished breaking in the engine.
